Claudio Bohórquez was awarded the use of Pablo Casals’ Gofriller cello for 2 years after winning the top prize at the 2000 Casals Competition in Germany at the age of 24.

German-born Bohórquez has played as a soloist with most major American orchestras including the Boston Symphony, Chicago Symphony, Cleveland, and Los Angeles Philharmonic.  The Boston Herald considers his “astonishing gift for the instrument…comparable maybe even to the young Yo-Yo Ma's”.  Internationally, he boasts an extensive roster including the Vienna Symphony, the Orchestre de Paris, the Leipzig Gewandhausorchester, and the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande.  Mr. Bohorquez has made numerous classical recordings for such labels as EMI and the Berlin Classics.

He has also engaged in groundbreaking projects such as an entirely improvised CD, Doha, a benefit for the Shambhala Mountain Center in Colorado. Mr. Bohórquez’s profound interest in the
intersection between Dharma practice and artistic expression, termed "Dharma Art" by Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche, continues to inspire his career.
